| Elea Golf & Spa Resort, Nr Paphos, Cyprus Southern Golf were appointed Main Contractors for the Nick Faldo Signature designed course in May 2007 and all works were completed on 31st May 2010. The design has been created around a ‘desert’ style in order to conserve the quantity of water that would be required, resulting in a contrast between the irrigated areas to Tees, Fairways and Semi-Roughs, and the surrounding non irrigated areas of arid and native scrub planting and exposed limestone rock.
Tees, fairways and semi-roughs are planted with Seashore Supreme Paspallum grasses to further aid the conservation of water along with creating an excellent playing surface.

| Muscat Hills Golf & Country Club, Oman Southern Golf is
currently constructing the first 18 hole green golf course in Oman,
which is a ‘championship’ standard golf course designed by Paul Thomas
of Dave Thomas Ltd and is set in a rocky terrain on the outskirts of
Muscat, very near the airport, and will be completed in late spring
2009 and open for play in summer 2009.
The site was
almost pure rock intersected by several waddis and required the
blasting and ‘pecking’ of 650,000 m3 of rock to create the golf course
and the import of 300,000 m3 of sweet ‘dune’ sand to cap all the
grassed areas and is destined to be one of the really great golf
courses in the Middle East.
The tees, fairways and
semi rough have been planted with ‘Princess 77’ a hybrid seeded Bermuda
grass rather than using stolons and the results using this seed have
been so good that we have taken on the agency for Princess 77 for the
Middle East and India.
There are
several other new projects in planning in Oman, and Southern Golf have
established an Omani company and are looking forward to participating
in some of the future golf developments in the country.
